SAT® preparation in London: plan around school and university applications
This guide covers the College Board Digital SAT® used in university applications. Preparing for the SAT® while studying in London means coordinating your school qualification, university choices and an available test sitting. SAT® Étoile offers individual online preparation with teaching available in English. Administrative communication, enrolment information and the contact form are in French. This guide helps families identify the work needed before choosing a programme.
Start with the destination, then decide whether the SAT® is useful
Living in the UK or studying A-levels does not determine your SAT® requirement. Make a list of the exact degrees and entry years you are considering. For each, record whether ACT/SAT® results are required, optional or not considered, which test dates are accepted, and how results must be reported.
For example, Stanford currently requires ACT or SAT®; school qualifications remain part of the application. For its main undergraduate selection, Bocconi accepts SAT®, ACT or its own test, subject to the programme’s procedure. Neither example creates a general requirement for London pupils. Read the current rules for your own application. Our SAT® and Bocconi guide — in French explains the main steps and score reporting.
A-levels, IB and the French Baccalauréat need different planning
- A-levels: identify the mathematics you actually study and any gaps shown by practice questions. An English-medium education does not remove the need to examine SAT® Reading and Writing errors.
- IB Diploma: record your Mathematics course and SL/HL level. Schedule preparation around internal assessments, the extended essay and school deadlines. Our SAT® and IB guide is in French.
- French Bac or BFI: map première/terminale commitments before adding test preparation. The Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle describes its French and international pathways; the BFI and IB are different qualifications. See our French-language BFI guide.
Bring your own school calendar to the discussion. A year group label alone cannot tell us your available time, current skills or target score.
Keep the UK and US application calendars separate
For most undergraduate courses starting in 2027, UCAS gives 13 January 2027 at 18:00 UK time as the equal consideration deadline. Courses with a 15 October deadline are exceptions; that date has already passed for this cycle. Your school may set an earlier internal deadline. A SAT® sitting does not replace a UCAS application or another course-specific admissions test.
For US applications, check each university’s last accepted test sitting rather than assuming that any test before enrolment will count. Work backwards from that limit, leaving time to review a practice test and complete your schoolwork.
Finding a SAT® test centre in and around London
The American School in London describes SAT®/ACT testing and university advising. That statement does not establish places for external candidates on your date. Use College Board’s test-centre search and confirm the actual booking in your own account. Some centres do not run every sitting. Check the journey to the booked address, including any location outside London.
Use College Board’s current dates and deadlines to record three separate limits: the test date, the registration deadline and the last sitting accepted by each university. Late registration has its own conditions and charges. Our SAT® calendar guide is in French. A published date does not confirm a seat at a London centre.
A practical first month
- Collect your target programmes, entry years, requirements and school commitments in one document.
- Take an official full-length Bluebook practice test. Keep the results and review specific errors, rather than using the total score alone.
- Choose a small number of priorities: for example, grammar decisions, evidence in short texts, algebra or data interpretation. Our Reading and Writing guide and Math guide are in French.
- Agree a manageable weekly workload and review what changes in timed practice before expanding it.
This is a planning example, not a fixed package or a predicted score increase. A short diagnostic can help start a teaching discussion; it is not an official SAT® result or a substitute for a full-length practice test.

Yes, teaching is available in English through individual online preparation. Administration is in French. Use the French contact form to give your curriculum, target entry year and availability in London time; lesson times are agreed individually.
Does SAT® Étoile provide a London test centre?
Preparation and official exam registration are separate. Book the exam with College Board. This page does not announce a SAT® Étoile classroom or official examination centre in London.

Not automatically. Start with your school’s guidance and the official free practice resources. Additional individual teaching can be discussed if specific difficulties remain and the workload fits your programme.
